New Foals From Yellow Star Stud

Yellow Star Stud have had some lovely quality foals arrive with fantastic pedigrees, we have a look at a few of them here.

The first foal, quite an exciting and substantial individual is by former KZN resident stallion Announce out of Angel Bay (by Damascus Gate out of Irina by Proclaim/Royal Prerogative mare), and is in fact a full brother to 7 time winner, D J Detzky. The fourth dam of this mare is none other then Saturna, the dam of Harry Hotspur and Rotterdam, and includes the family of many champions such as Kiss Of Peace, Magnolia King, Mason Dixon, At The Savoy, Gang Related, Onehundredacrewood, Kournikova and Princess Faberge, to name but a few! The mare is the dam of 5 runners and 3 winners to date, including Seraph (also by Announce) and Spectre.

The second very smart looking foal is by Bezrin, out of A Certain Smile. Bezrin was recently relocated to the Cape. The mare is by Elliodor out of A Song Is Born by Jamaico who in turn is out of a Peaceable Kingdom mare, and she was a winner at the track at aged 3 over 1400m. She is the of dam of 3 winners including Prince Shalford, Galliodor who was a 4 winner of R251,150 from 3 to 5 and placed 13 times, and Pavarotti, a winner at 4 over 2450m. Her daughter by Victory Moon named Hot Moon Rising sold for R180 000 at the 2009 Emperor’s Palace National 2 Year old sale. This foal hails from the family of Whistling Dixie, Grand Emporium who was successful in Dubai, Ndabeni who campaigned in Mauritius, Ice Cube and Jagged Ice.

The third foal has a mouth watering pedigree and plenty of potential. The foal is by Fort Wood out of Cool Lucy, herself by Al Mufti out of Cousin Lucy by Foveros/Royal Prerogative mare. Cool Lucy was no slouch at the track herself, she is a 5 winner and earned R283,345 from age 2 to 5 over 1200 – 1500 metres and placed 9 times. She is the dam of 1 previous filly by Modus Vivendi, who is currently unraced. Cool Lucy is a half-sibling to several useful horses including Lucy’s Lad, Cousin John, and Cousin Linda, the dam of Rebel King and R2.4 million yearling Uncle Tommy. The family also includes the likes of Acacia Woodland (who happens to be by Fort Wood), Lyrical Linda, Tolme, Count Du Barry, Big Swinger and Golden Taipan.

The fourth foal is by Jet Master out of Powder Grey, herself by Jallad out of Carolain by Ringaro/Logical/Vaguely Noble mare. She was a winner and placed 5 times over 3 seasons at the track and is a half-sister to London Fashion and a full sister to 3 time winner Lubricator.

The fifth foal is by Vodacom Durban July winner Grey’s Inn out of Sure Strike, herself by Smart Strike out of a Zedative. She is the dam of a previous foal by Eyeofthetiger. Her dam, Love Of Mary has had 4 foals, 4 runners and 3 winners including Miss Scaramanga and Mary Hinge. This foal is inbred to Sir Tristram and the dam of Great Verdict and Zedative, Summoned.

The last foal is a lovely chestnut colt by Var, and judging by his pedigree he should have a good turn of foot! Out of Gossiper, the mare is by London News out of London Belle by Royal Chalice/Elliodor mare. The mare herself had 11 starts and 5 places.
