Summerhill Stud are welcoming the first big and impressive foals from Golden Sword, so much so it is said that his foals are topping the weights on the scale at the home of the Equus Award Champion Breeders of South Africa. Golden Sword is by one of the world’s most exciting sires in High Chapparal.

Dual Derby winner High Chaparral has been represented by three individual Group One winners, in two hemispheres, in 2013 – namely Toronado, It’s A Dundeel and Shoot Out.

Golden Sword, a top-class racehorse himself, broke the track record at Meydan when winning over 2000m. He also won one of Britain’s major Derby preps, the G3 Chester Vase, ran second in the Irish Derby, and ran the mighty Sea The Stars to two lengths when fifth in the Epsom Derby.

He is from one the greatest families in the stud book, whose members include the classic winning fillies Alexandrova and Chicquita (both, like Golden Sword, descendants of the great Sadler’s Wells), as well as former legendary SA sire Royal Prerogative and Dolpour – the latter being the broodmare sire of The Apache.

Stylish Image (Kahal – Fluent Beauty by Jungle Warrior) produced her first foal, an outstanding chestnut colt [pictured left] by Golden Sword.

The mare is a winner and placed three times from just eight starts. Her own dam, Fluent Beauty is a five-time winner including the EP Derby Gr.3 and placed 14 times including a third in the Durbanville Oaks (L).

This is the damline of Bold Black Types Happy Fortune, White Fang and Top Rank.

Golden Song (by National Assembly out of Enchant D’or by Enchanting) has produced two winners to date and this lovely bay foal by Golden Sword, including three time winner White Haze (by Hobb Alwahtaan) and Romantic Balladeer (by Trippi). A mare is herself a winner.

Golden Song is a full-sister to Charming Chestnut, a four-time winner including the Strelitzia Stakes Gr 3.

This is the immediate family of Double D’Or, Red Door, Lizzie Arden and British Black Types Pasha as well as Galadine.

Owned by Sheikh Mohamed Bin Khalifa, Summerhill, Drakenstein, Wilgebosdrift and Moutonshoek Studs, Golden Sword stands for a fee of R20 000 + Vat for the 2013 season.
