Byword(GB) First Foal Born At Middlefield |
Byword’s first foal was born this weekend. Talented racemare Hurricane Queen gave birth to this beautiful chestnut filly at Middlefield Stud last weekend.
Middlefield’s Rob Pickering was delighted by the foal, describing the filly as “A first foal with a nice quality about her and is a good size.”
The filly, who has been named Beyond Words, was produced by Hurricane Queen, winner of five races including the Gr3 Acacia Handicap.
Byword covered a superb book of mares in his first season at stud, with his first mates in 2013 including Gr1 winner Urabamba, as well as the stakes winning mares Cantorist, Hurricane Queen and She’s Star, while other well related mares covered by the son of Peintre Celebre last year include half-sisters to Gr1 winners Bouquet-Garni, Stratos and Tara’s Touch.
A truly outstanding racehorse, Byword was France’s top weighted Older Male of 2010.
His seven victories included a win in the Gr1 Prince of Wales Stakes at Royal Ascot, as well as wins in five other stakes race.
Byword also ran second to triple Breeders Cup Mile winner Goldikova in the Group 1 Prix d’Ispahan, and he defeated the mighty Cirrus Des Aigles when successful in the Group 2 Qatar Prix Dollar of 2011.
One of 15 Gr1 winners sired by brilliant Prix de’l Arc de Triomphe winner Peintre Celebre, Byword is out of Broodmare Of The Year Binche.
Byword has moved to Mauritzfontein for the 2014 season.
He will stand for a fee of R30 000.
