Clifton Stud Welcome Aptly Pedigreed Filly Born In The Snowfall

The newborn filly by What A Winter out of Covered In Snow.

Peter and Jenny Blyth from Rosetta welcomed a special foal during the snow last week.

The Clifton-bred filly is made even more special by the fact that she is by sire What A Winter out of a three-time Listed winner by Crusade, a Clifton-bred mare named Covered In Snow!

Peter tells the story, “It started snowing on Saturday afternoon / evening and we were away at a family members 70th birthday. Our manager Christine was called by the nightwatchman at 1:55am Sunday morning – and who does she deliver, but a What A Winter x Covered In Snow – all happening with white snow outside!

Our foaling procedure is the mares break water outside under floodlights and then they are brought into a sparkling clean foaling box with deep bedding to be comfortable and warm. So her mother Covered in Snow comes in with snow on her back to deliver a What A Winter filly! Absolutely ironic!!!”

Peter and Jenny are looking for a special name for the filly and are open to suggestions!
