Spring Valley Stud – National Yearling Sales Draft
Spring Valley is pleased to introduce its 2016 National Yearling Sale’s draft!
For those not familiar with our home and Stud, it is situated in the beautiful, horse friendly KZN Midlands, just outside the farming town of Mooi River. Now in its 20th year as a specialist thoroughbred breeding operation, Spring Valley has a proud history of consistently producing tough, quality racehorses including Gr.1 performers Dunford (winner of the South Africa’s greatest race, the Durban July), Buy And Sell, Count The Money, Indiscreet Fantasy and Personal Fantasy to name a few. Spring Valley is also home to the very promising young sire, Just As Well (USA), a Gr.1 winning son of AP Indy from an outstanding producer of high class performers such as dam, No Matter What, Rainbow View and sires E Dubai and Raven’s Pass.
The families of many of the aforementioned are represented in this year’s catalogue and we welcome you to inspect our small, but select draft of yearlings at our hospitality area in Block C at the TBA Sales Complex. To assist you, the following is a brief description of the pedigrees on offer with links to pictures that are currently available on the TBA website:
Lot 6 (stable C71) – a bay colt by Just As Well ex Beautiful Princess, a full sister to Graded racemare, Lazer Star. There are real speed influences in this family, with Sri Pekan and Sharpen Up close up and this colt is a real racy individual with scope.

Lot 7 (stable C72) – a chestnut colt by Var ex Bedloe’s Island, the Gr.2 SA Oaks winner. With Secret Prospector and Qui Danzig in the second and third dam, this hard knocking colt is bred on the same lines as the outstanding HK Champion’s Mile winner, Variety Club and top class speedster, Via Africa.

Lot 67 (stable C75) – a bay filly by Kahal ex Dreams And Fancies, the winning half-sister to Grade performers, Indiscreet Fantasy, Personal Fantasy and Silver Fantasy, dam of promising Kahal 3yr old filly, Fantasy Lady. This quality filly is from the last crop of the outstanding Kahal, fast emerging as a broodmare sire of the future.

Lot 191 (stable C79) – a bay filly by Crusade ex Lite Spark, the top class daughter of Irish Derby placed, Sportsworld. Despite the Classic influences in her female line, this powerfully built filly from the first crop of Middle Park winner, Crusade, looks to have a sprinting career written all over her!

Lot 207 (stable C76) – a bay filly by Toreador ex Mentalite, the imported daughter of Alhaarth and prolific producer of winners including current polytrack star, Chennai Babe (Kahal). Toreador has had an excellent record with his daughters and this late November filly looks sure to maintain the excellent record of the family.

Lot 303 (stable C73) – a bay colt by Toreador ex Russian Belle, dam of high class miler, Silver Age, Graded performer from 2 to 5yrs including the Gr.2 Umkhomazi Stakes over 1200m. This quality colt hails from an outstanding female line of Graded producers including current fillies Deputy Ryder and Alexis.

Lot 308 (stable C77) – a bay filly by Kahal ex Saltwater Girl, the multiple winning, Graded placed daughter of Modern Day, himself a high class miler from one of Juddmonte’s greatest families and a half brother to Gr.1 winners, Elmaamul, Modernise and Oaks winner, Reams Of Verse. This late foal has done nothing but improve and offers the discerning buyer a real chance of investing in a Classic family.

Lot 313 (stable C78) – a chestnut filly by Rebel King ex Scruples, the 4 x winning daughter of Silvino and dam of Listed winner, Asian Emperor. Rebel King has an excellent winners to runners record and this smart, racy filly looks sure to uphold her dam’s near perfect record as a producer of winners.
