Champion’s day at Turffontein certainly threw racegoers and punters a few curve balls on Saturday…. One of the biggest upsets was in Race 2, the SA Fillies Nursery (Gr.2), where the unraced King’s Temptress going off at odds of 150-1, beat a stellar field of fillies, including the unbeaten and odds-on favourite, Franny and the talented Ilha Da Rock. Genuine Leather, ran second.

Genuine leather won her first start by 3 lengths, and the next was her second start behind Kings temptress. She actually beat Ihla da Rock too in her debut, all at even weights. She is by Kabool out of Rocky Rituals by Rocky Marriage.

King’s Temptress is a daughter of KZN-based stallion, King of Kings, who stands at Peter & Jenny Blyth’s Clifton Stud. She was a R70 000 yearling purchase the National Yearling Sale consigned by Waterford Stud in the Eastern Cape.

Her fantastic win not only ensures that her career will take off from here, but it raises the profile of King Of Kings as a “one to watch” sire in the future.

It goes to that no matter what the odds are, if you are looking for quality and great results, KZN breeding is the place to get your next star!

Congratulations go to trainer Coerie Lensley and owner Mr.M.Govender. Big congratulations also goes to Peter & Jenny Blyth of Clifton Stud who stand King Of Kings.
