Saturday 19th May sees the culmination of the Highveld racing season with its annual awards season. Once again, KZN horses are well represented in the various categories, and it illustrates what a deep vein of talent there is in this province. The ladies are well represented, with champions Dancewiththedevil and the surprise S.A. Fillies Guineas winner, King’s Temptress being nominated for Champion Two Year Old filly, Champion Older Horse and Champion Middle Distance respectively.

“Lisa Barrett”, her psuedonym, currently works at a stud farm in the KZN Midlands – a position she has held for the past eight years. She describes herself as “absolutely and totally besotted by horses” and she is in a fortunate position to work with a stallion she idolises every day. She describes herself as “continually fascinated by every aspect of the racehorse business, especially pedigrees!”
