A Brave Tale
A Brave Tale 06 May, 2012 – Lisa Barrett |
In a fitting tribute to the late Gold Circle Chairman and owner Roy Eckstein, his 5YO gelding, Tales Of Bravery, took the Gr 2 Drill Hall Stakes at Greyville yesterday. Tales Of Bravery beat off the likes of the champion 3YO Depardieu, who was aiming to emulate the legendary Imbongi, by becoming the first 3YO since 2008 to win the Drill Hall.
Tales Of Bravery is a multiple Group-winning son of the Summerhill stallion Kahal, bred in the Cape by the Victory Moon syndicate.
In his four years at the tracks, this seasoned veteran has beaten the legendary Pocket Power, and has been runner-up to Mother Russia and Bravura in a career which has included 9 wins from 24 starts for trainer Vaughan Marshall.
His dam is Emperor’s Warning who is a half-sister to the Rathmor Stud-based champion mare, Gypsy Queen, who in turn is the dam of Gypsy’s warning, who was sold for over $1,05 million dollars last year at the legendary Keeneland November sale.
Congratulations go to trainer Vaughan Marshall.
We pay tribute to Roy Eckstein whose farsightedness and faith in him and KZN produced a real super star.
