The first foal by Gr1 winning son of Dubawi, Willow Magic, has arrived at Summerhill Stud. Certainly stamped by his impressive chestnut sire, Willow Magic is the only Gr1 winning son of Dubawi at stud in the Southern Hemisphere.

Other KZN horses to impress was Scott Bros’ Matador Man who ran a phenomenal third in the Gr1 Champions Cup, after not jumping out the stalls on terms and trailing by four or five lengths. His Crusade half-brother Subtropical also caused a stir when the handsome colt won the second race of the day – giving Crusade his seventh winner of the season (six in South Africa).
The National 2YO Sale has produced amongst others KZN-breds Gr1 winner and Equus Champion Sprinter Talktothestars, as well as the recent Million Mile (and Stakes winner), Gr1 aimed Matador Man and international globe-trotting multiple Group Winner The Apache, who was famously purchased for R80 000 and earned in excess of R17 million.

Devil’s Peak, a chestnut juvenile full brother to five time-Gr1 winning Dancewiththedevil, won his second start for breeder / owner/ trainer St John Gray at the Vaal this afternoon. He was born and raised at Cathy and Jonathan Martin’s Hadlow Stud for breeder St John Gray of Graystone Stud.
Purchased off the Klawervlei Farm Sale, the juvenile out of Kahal mare La Mascarata bred by Dr Ian Heyns, sauntered to an easy victory under Craig Zackey over the 1200m comfortably by over a length.
