Congratulations to Gerald and Karen Kalil for being the winning breeders and owners with Quid Pro Quo (consigned by Summerhill Equestrian) in Race 5, the Grade 2 Zulu Kingdom Explorer Golden Slipper. The Lance -Delightfull Diva filly stormed home to take the Golden Slipper from another KZN Bred, Fatal Flaw, bred by Laurence Wernars, in commanding fashion, under a fantastic, well timed ride by S’Manga Khumalo for trainer Barend Botes.

FIRST KZN BRED WINNER ON JULY DAY – MADISON VALLEY: GRADE 3 DSTV GOLD VASE

Well done to Clifton Stud on being the winning breeders in Race 4, the DSTV Gold Vase (Grade 3) with Madison Valley, the 3YO Mambo In Seattle – Valdovino colt who won a cracker from another KZN Bred Shoot The Rapids from Wynnholme Stud with Kaiden Brewer on board for trainer Frank Robinson. Congratulations as well to owner Mr Sid Moodley.

Here is our #KZNBRED, Clifton Stud bred Hollywoodbets Durban July runner, Flag Man at the Durban July gallops this morning. According to reports, Flag Man put up a really impressive gallop, and looked sublime as he glided down the track with Serino Moodley on board, catching many people’s eye. His gallop gives the Van Zyl yard and KZN Racing renewed hope that this year we will breed another Durban July winner!

The excitement is ramping up further as the second declaration stage for the Durban July was annouced. The major players are still there, including our #KZNBreds, but things may change a bit after this coming weekend’s G1 and G3 races: the WFA Hollywoodbets G1 Gold Challenge and the Hollywoodbets Dolphins G3 Cup Trial, both at Hollywoodbets Greyville on Saturday, and the G3 Jubilee Stakes, which takes place at Turffontein on Sunday.
