The first Log of the Trainers and Jockey’s Challenge, sponsored by KwaZulu Natal Breeders’ Club and Gold Circle kicked off on Wednesday 2 May at Scottsville, and sees the Piemonte-bred Oratorio juvenile colt Di Me (pronounced De-May) in the lead. Di Me won his second start for Mr and Mrs Lance Duncan for trainer Ivan Van Wyk.

KZN had a brilliant day yesterday at Turffontein, kicking it off with a surprise Gr2 win in the SA Fillies Nursery, whilst Takingthepeace did not disgrace herself to finish 4th in her Triple Tiara bid, and Summerhill gained another outstanding Gr1 with son of Await The Dawn, Hero’s Honour.

The third and final day of the National Yearling Sale proved a successful one for Scott Bros, who knocked down a beautiful son of first season son of Galileo, Kingsbarns, to David Ferraris for R400 000.
