Aiden O’Brien’s twice Gr1 winning fillies – Rhododendron and Seventh Heaven – will each be lining up at the Breeders Cup taking place today and tomorrow at Del Mar, part of the biggest team he has ever sent to the Breeders Cup.
Eight Cities, a three year old son of Eightfold Path bred by Scott Bros gave his sire his fourth winner for the season this afternoon at the Vaal Classic track over 1500m.
After Crusade’s flying grey filly’s annhilation of the field at Kenilworth on Tuesday, the son of Mr Greeley followed up with Crusado at Greyville on the turf over 1200m for breeders Bush Hill Stud.
St Helier Stud’s beautiful grey filly Velvet Dawn, who sold for R300 000 at the BSA National Yearling Sale in 2016, won for trainer Paddy Kruyer at Kenilworth yesterday in a phenomenal fashion over 1200m and owner Mrs Rathbone.
The sale, conducted by Jan Naude and Caroline Simpson’s Livestock Auctions, achieved an aggregate of R4 145 000, with an average of R69 083 and a top price of R380 000 paid by Bobby Rajhuhanan for a beautiful Visionaire colt. – Turf Talk
Run Rhino Run, bred by the former Aldora Stud in Nottingham Road, shocked the Sunday afternoon punters at Greyville with a 21.25 length win over a marathon 3000m. It was a goosebump moment as the Greyville crowd watched the Silvano corner and cheered Serino home under his hard pulling mount.
After producing two winners last week, Crusade had an eight length debut winner at Flamingo Park this afternoon.
Mustajeeb has his three parts brother Tamayuz at stud in England and the young sire is off to enormous success already – including producing Woodbine Gr1 winner Blond Me. Tamayuz shares his second dam with Mustajeeb, both sons of 5-time Gr1 winner Nayef. Ascot record breaker Mustajeeb will be standing at Bush Hill Stud in 2018 after his export was delayed in the 2017 breeding season.
Crusade has produced two winners in a week, the first with Roski’s Onamission for Mike De Kock at Turffontein, the other with Romantic Crusade at Durbanville yesterday for July winning trainer Candice Bass-Robinson. Glen Kotzen’s debut winning Crusade, Wings Of Honor, followed up with a third place yesterday at the same course.
