Congratulations to Quid Pro Quo’s owners Gerald & Karen Kalil, as well as trainer Barend Botes on Quid Pro Quo being crowned Equus Champion 2YO Filly for the past season. Raised and grazed Summerhill Equestrian, the 2YO daughter of Lance – Delightfull Diva made equine history this past season when she won the unofficial juvenile “Triple Crown”: the Grade One Allan Robertson, the Grade Two Zulu Kingdom Explorer Golden Slipper and the Grade One Douglas Whyte Stakes.

Its one of highlights of the South African racing calendar, the Equus Awards, where equine excellence in breeding and racing for the past season is recognised and rewarded.

KZN has a good representation in several categories this year:

Horse of the year: DAVE THE KING 126, GIMME A NOTHER 104, GREEN WITH ENVY 98, COUSIN CASEY 94, PURPLE PITCHER 92 (Bush Hill Stud), ROYAL VICTORY 90, THUNDERSTRUCK 90.

Champion Three-year-old colt: GREEN WITH ENVY 98, PURPLE PITCHER 92 (Bush Hill Stud), MAIN DEFENDER 84, LUCKY LAD 82, SANDRINGHAM SUMMIT 74, ORIENTAL CHARM 66.

Champion Stayer: RED MAPLE 18, MASTER REDOUTE 18, ARAGOSTA 12, CRIMSON KING 10, MADISON VALLEY (Clifton Stud)10, FUTURE PEARL 10.
