The Apache, bred by the Scott Brothers of Highdown Stud, won the Pinnacle Stakes last night over 1600m with Gavin Van Zyl achieving a 1-2 across the post for the KZN-breds. Seal ran on half a length behind the Mogok colt, with Link Man and Belmonte filling in third and fourth.

Golden Sword(GB) finished eighth, five lengths off the winner. This English import, now a six year old, at one time ran 2.1 lengths off the great Sea The Stars in the 2009 Epsom Derby at even weights.

The Apache was recently voted Outstanding Middle-Distance Male, Outstanding Stayer Male and as well Outstanding Three-Year Old Colt at the recent KZN Breeders Awards. He is also the current Equus Champion Three-Year Old Colt/Gelding Award winner.
