Camphoratus Given Green Light Into Vodacom Durban July After Scratching
Camphoratus was given the green light for a run in the Vodacom Durban July with the scratching of Magnificent Seven due to lameness in a foreleg, and gave an impressive account for herself this morning at the Vodacom Durban July Gallops on the same track that she won the Gr3 Flamboyant in December.
Interestingly, Camphoratus is a KZN Yearling Sales graduate as is Magnificent Seven, and Eyes Wide Open, all Vodacom Durban July final field qualifiers. The KZN Yearling Sale will be taking place next week at Sibaya Casino, 4 & 5 July.
She galloped less than 24 hours after receiving the news of her entry, and has been scratched from Saturday’s KZN Breeders Million Mile as a result. Bred by Rob and Michele Pickering, she is by Byword out of a Horse Chestnut mare Wild Camphor by Horse Chestnut, trained by Robbie Hill for owners Rob and Michele Pickering and Messrs L J Muir, S Manicom, G R Sadleir.
This is the damline of European Champion and sire One Cool Cat and Gr1 Breeders Cup sire, Aragorn.
#kznbred Camphoratus will be ridden by her Gr1 Empress Club stakes winning pilot Gareth Wright.
The KZN Breeders Race Day takes place on Saturday for stakes of over R2,4-million and includes the feature KZN Breeders Million Mile. The Durban View Room is fully booked for the luncheon and we are looking forward to a great day ahead, thank you to our sponsors and don’t forget to wear Black & White!
