CLIFTON’S CLASSY COLLECTION ON TWO YEAR OLD SALE
KZN farm Clifton Stud will be offering eight (three as Agent) two-year-olds at next month’s National Two Year Old Sale in Germiston.
The draft includes lots by such popular and promising sires as Capetown Noir, Noble Tune, Toreador and Visionaire.
The latter, South Africa’s Champion First Crop Sire in 2014-2015, has enjoyed plenty of success of late, thanks to his high class graded stakes winners Takingthepeace and The Thinker and he is represented here by Divine Vision (Lot 223). This chestnut colt, a half-brother to 3 winners including Oaks runner up Madam Madonna, is out of a half-sister to graded stakes winners Fort Vogue and Whatalady and this is the same family as champion Highland Night.
Equus Champion and triple G1 winner Capetown Noir has two members of his first crop in the Clifton draft. They are a colt (Lot 18) whose winning dam is a half-sister to G1 Cape Flying Championship hero O Caesour, and a filly (Lot 47) from the same Lily family as such G1 winners as Bold Thatch, Fort Defiance, Ravishing, Vega and Villandry.
Now deceased, Toreador was a consistently successful stallion whose best included champion Link Man, dual G1 winner Bull Valley and millionaire Matador Man. The son of Danehill is represented in this draft by Intrepid Fighter (Lot 187), a colt out of champion Casey’s Dance –and this is the family of G1 winning 2yos Fov’s Dancer and Potent Power.
Breeders’ Cup runner up Noble Tune has made a pleasing start with his first 2yos in 2017-2018, and the son of Unbridled’s Song is the sire of Golden Tune (Lot 276). This colt is a half-brother to six winners including Swallow Stakes runner up Bling Dancer.
Other interesting lots in this draft include an Eightfold Path colt from the family of champions Fearless and Festive Season (Lot 125), an Irish Flame ¾ sister to East Cape star Short List (Lot 354), and a Main Aim filly from the same family as G1 Travers Stakes winner Corporate Report (Lot 413).
