New Foals From Rathmor Stud |
With foaling season well upon us right now, we take a look at a few of Rathmor’s foals that have been born recently.
Strategic News(AUS) had his first foal arrive on 12 September. Out of Coconut Grove, she had a smart bay colt.
Coconut Grove is by Rambo Dancer out of Cape Kiwi(NZ) by Kaapstad(NZ). She is winner of the Listed East Cape Paddock Stakes and placed 7 times, earning R364,405 in stakes from the age of 3 to 6 over 1400 – 1600m.
Strategic News’ second foal, a substantial bay colt, is out of the exceptionally well-bred Tiara’s Tune(AUS). She is by Xaar (a full brother to Modus Vivendi) out of Refuge by Sadler’s Wells/Darshaan/Top Ville mare.
Gypsy Queen, the dam of Grade 1 winner in South Africa and America – Gypsy’s Warning – foaled a beautiful bay filly on 24 September by Fort Wood and looks very much like her illustrious half-sister, Gypsy’s Warning. This makes the filly a full-sister to Gypsy Madonna, who sold for R1 350 000 to Varsfontein Stud at the 2011 Emperors Palace National Yearling Sales.
Gypsy Queen, by 1988 Durban July winner Royal Chalice out of Sara’s Warning(GB) by Caveat(GB) is the dam of 6 runners and 4 winners to date including 7 time winner The Tallisman by All Fired Up, 4 time winner Bannock Burn by Among Men, Grade 2 winner Surabi and muliple Group winner in South Africa and America, Gypsy’s Warning.

The filly is therefore closely related to Pocket Power and River Jetez through both her sire Ravishing (being by Jet Master)and her dam.
