Bush Hill Stud Classy Wins – Siblings At Nationals
In the past week Bush Hill Stud have had two significant winners – each at Kenilworth and at the Vaal, and they have two siblings consigned at the National Yearling Sales taking place this week. Both yearlings are by National Top 4 sire Kahal, and this is the last crop of yearlings available from the deceased son of Machiavellian.
The first is the Brett Crawford-trained Orion Quest, a quick son of Trippi out of Plutonium by Muhtafal, who won his debut by a shattering seven lengths over 1200m. He has followed this up with another win over the same course and distance, his second by almost two lengths. From four starts the three year old colt has yet to be out of the money. Orion Quest is from the top class family of Bush Hill Stud that produced Gr1 winners’ Zirconeum and Stellite, descended from their great mare Sweet Sheila.
His Kahal half-brother has attracted plenty of attention at the sales ground, named Turf Patrol he is Lot 265. The mare has also produced Black Type King Neptune, a 4-time winner who also won the Michaelmas Handicap Listed.
The second was a victory yesterday at the Vaal for Aramouse, a full brother by Kahal to Gr2 and Gr3 winner, The Mouseketeer (including the Emerald Cup). Bush Hill have a magnificent chestnut colt, a three-parts brother to Aramouse and The Mouseketeer on the sale as Lot 252, named Cat ‘n Mouse. The colt is out of Penthouse Mouse, a daughter of Look Sharp (the dam of The Mouseketeer and Aramouse by Northern Guest), from the dam line of speedsters The Sheik and Al Nitak.
Bush Hill Stud also have within their draft this year a half-brother by Toreador to Irish Flame, as well as progeny by Oratorio, Byword, Crusade, Visionaire and Kildonan.
