2011 Emperor’s Palace Ready-To-Run Sales Results |
The Emperor’s Palace Ready-To-Run Sale took place yesterday at the TBA Complex in Gosforth Park, and congratulations must go to South African champion breeders’ Summerhill Stud for having the top 5 sellers at the sale – with the top two over a million each.
The top-selling colt was consigned by Summerhill Sales and was sold to Form Bloodstock for R1,500 000 – he was a popular choice with the judges’s selections after his breeze-up at Summerhill last month. He fell under Lot 35 and is an Unnamed import from Australia by Royal Academy(USA) – Dubai’s Fairy by Medicean(GB) and has a lovely pedigree with stallion potential. The dam is a half-sister to 7-time winner Just James and 8-time winner Blue Jack.
The top-priced filly was Lot 71 named Hope Forever, an Argentinian import by El Prado out of Hopeitsadiamond by Housebuster(USA). She was bought by Anfield Sports(PTY)Ltd for R900 000, and was the only judges’ selection made by trainer and ex-champion jockey Michael Roberts at the panel discussion after the breeze-ups. Her dam is a 5-time winner and Hope Forever is a half-sister to 4 winners and is the immdiate family of Wekiva Springs – a multiple 10-time winning Grade 1 winner in the USA.
Overall 185 Lots were consigned, 164 were sold 6 withdrawn and 15 not sold. The average price was R189 207 and the aggregate R31 030 000.
Summerhill Stud’s Mick Goss was pleased with the overall result of the sale, saying,”It was a record turnover for the sale, which in these tough times is truly remarkable. This sale is also a tribute to the spirit of South Africans, who have shown their spirit and resilience at the sale. People remained until the last lot sold, and there was a million rand available with just five lots to sell.”
