Backworth Stud’s Sweet Sweet Sugar Rush
Backworth Stud’s Sweet Sweet Sugar Rush |
Backworth-bred Sugar Rush won at Scottsville last Tuesday, 3rd time out, breaking her maiden after a 4th and 2nd place, for Tony Rivalland stable, with Brandon Lerena up.
Sugar Rush is by ‘Miesque’s Approval’ out of a Kenmare mare ‘Sweet Sweet’.
It was an exciting moment, as all of us at Backworth had a soft spot for the dam Sweet Sweet! We bought her from Chris Saunders’s Invermooi Stud some time back, after they had struggled through a few seasons to get her in foal. Having produced a good horse ‘Meet at Mala Mala’, we saw a breeding opportunity in her top bloodline, and took the gamble.
She conceived to Miesque’s Approval first season for us, producing ‘Sugar Rush’, but through numerous further coverings never conceived again!
Wanting to retain the bloodline for breeding, we race her with friends Gavin Cunningham and Chris Tyson.
It was also encouraging to watch Miesque’s Approval notch up a further winner!
Congratulations to all the connections!
