Gold Circle held their annual KZN Racing Awards ceremony on Friday evening, an event that was very well attended at the Elangeni Hotel in Durban.
Summerhill Stud once again did KZN proud, taking home the award for Breeder Of The Year.
Summerhill have had another strong year, with the racing successes of Love Struck, Extra Zero, Mannequin, Smanjemanje, Black Wing, Checcetti and Pierre Jourdan.
Prominent racehorse owner Alesh Naidoo, (who owns KZN-bred Love Struck amongst many others) was the inaugural recipient of The Roy Eckstein Racing Personality Of The Year Award, handed over by Cecil Baitz.
Roy and Gladys Meaker, the owners and breeders of Golden Crest, took home the Anita Akal Special Award.
Congratulations must also go to the trainers – Ashburton Trainer Of The Year went to Duncan Howells, Clairwood Trainer Of The Year to Charles Laird, and Summerveld & Champion KZN Trainer to Mike De Kock.
Horse Of The Year went to Glen Kotzen’s Princess Victoria, with part-owner Georgina Jaffee there to receive the prestigious award.
