Brilliant Sunday Racing For Clifton Stud
Brilliant Sunday Racing For Clifton Stud |
Clifton Stud had a great race day on Sunday with Print The Pounds taking home the first leg of the Zimbabwean Triple Tiara and Super Trouper winning his 10th race at Borrowdale, whilst Atso gelding Risky Rosco took home his second win at Scottsville.
Print The Pounds, by A.P. Answer out of Almighty Dollar by Divine Force, took home her third consecutive win in the Fillies Classic over 1600m by a length and half from Picallily (by Gharir), Eversolucky (by Ashaawes) and Autumn J (by Jay Peg). Trained by Bridget Stidolph, Print The Pounds was ridden by Denicious Smith.
Owned by the Sunmark Racing Syndicate (Nom: Mr R E Davenport), the three year old enjoys her racing and has yet to be out of the money, having placed five times besides her three wins from just eight starts. She sold for a mere R25 000 at the National Two Year Old sale in 2013 and seems to be giving her owners plenty of fun and excitement as she heads into the next leg.
Seven year old Clifton-bred Super Trouper is out of Queen Of Dance by Rambo Dancer, and notched his 10th win in the second race at Borrowdale yesterday too.
The West Man gelding is owned by Messrs P C Rugg, G M Littleford and S H Murray, and has had 10 wins and 12 places to date. Racing at the Vaal, Turffontein and Borrowdale for the duration of his career, he is a horse that has previously run just four lengths off sire Gimmethegreenlight, and has been victorious over dual Gr3 winning Approval Rating twice before.
Risky Rosco has joined Chris Erasmus’ satelite yard at Yellow Star Stud. The flashy chestnut Atso gelding who was an eye-catching yearling at Nationals, selling for R220 000 in 2012, partnered Puntas Arenas [pictured above] in the 2013 Vodacom Durban July gallops after winning on debut from two talented horses – Peter Culture and Dream Away.
Now owned by KZN Breeders Club Chairman Koos De Klerk, Risky Rosco has placed seven times since and went on to have a wonderful win at Scottsville under jockey Alec Forbes, by a quarter of a length over 1200m. He finished second in his previous start at Greyville over 1200m.
Well done to Peter and Jenny Blyth of Clifton Stud on a very successful Sunday’s racing.
