Clifton Top #kznbreds At November 2YO Sale
Clifton presented a handsome and well bred draft of two year olds at the recent November 2YO Sale and were rewarded with the top priced colt and filly respectively from the province of KZN.
Their Vercingetorix filly out of Endearing attracted R425 000 (Lot 150) from the stable of Roy Magner – who raced Clifton-bred Prince Of Kahal very successfully.
Named Alesia’s Love, this is a female line drenched in speed with the likes of Harry’s Charm, National Currency, Fabian, Laverna and Sound Of Warning amongst the Bold Black Type.
The next to follow for R375 000 to Scott Gaskell was a lovely colt by What A Winter (Lot 182) out of Clifton-raced Australian mare, High Seas Beauty, a daughter of High Chapparal. His dam is a 5-time winner including the Gr3 Acacia, and this is the female line of SA and USA raced Delta Form.
Blue Sky Thoroughbreds top seller of the day went to Erupt filly Star Fantasy for R300 000 from the family of Veiled Essence and Silver Arrow. She sold to Al Khayl Breeders, the breeders of Ameena.
Bush Hill Stud sold as agent for Hadlow Stud, Lot 165 by Willow Magic for R220 000.
A big imposing colt who stood over ground, he is out of Trippi mare Foam Party. This is the family of 18-time winner World Focus and Green Keeper. Named Chief Whip, he was knocked down to buyer Copper Eagle.
Overall, Clifton Stud averaged R174 000 for ten horses sold, followed by Blue Sky Thoroughbreds with R131,154 for 13 horses sold.
The auction ended the sales year on a positive note with Bloodstock South Africa announcing increases in turnover by 33%, the average saw a 15% increase and the median 10% increase.
The top buyer went to JASM Solutions for an average of R329,375 for 8 horses purchased (including two #kznbreds from Clifton Stud), followed by Sterling Miller’s Pound Bloodstock who bought 5 yearlings (including a New Predator from Piemonte Stud) for an average of R396 000, including the sales topper at R1,2-million.
