KZN Breeders Support CTS Mare Sale
KZN Breeders once again supported the Cape Thoroughbred Sale Mare and Mixed Sale.
Blue Sky Thoroughbreds – a breeding partnership between Tinus Gericke and Bruce Le Roux – bought Mogok mare, Lot 20 Cup Of Rubies for R125 000 from Ridgemont Highlands. The mare originally bred by Scott Bros is in foal to freshman sire sensation Rafeef, who is currently boasting an incredible 55% winners to runner percentage.
The mare is out of a half-sister to Durban July winner Hunting Tower, and this is the family of Barahin.
Her handsome son by Dynasty and Gr1 placed Crimson King, contests the Gr3 World Sports Betting Legal Eagle Stakes on Saturday afternoon at Kenilworth.
Gary and Colleen De Klerk’s Summerview Stud purchased Lot 83 Transcend (Dynasty) for R15 000 and Lot 94, a Royal Mo filly weanling from the dam line of sire Futura, for R10 000.
Transcend, out of a Lomitas mare from a French dam line is a half-sister to 6-time winner Tarsus. She is currently in foal to Erupt.
Camargue Stud are making a comeback and purchased five mares.
Amongst them was Lot 6 Arabian Empress who was knocked down for R40 000 – in foal to Querari, she is by Al Mufti out of a Northern Guest / Averof mare, from the female line of Luna Wish and Crimson Palace. She is the dam of seven foals to race – all winners, including Black Types Arissa and Arabian Air.
Lot 21 Daily Flight R30 000 has a beautiful pedigree – a daughter of Jet Master from the Lily family. She is the dam of two winners including Despicable and is in foal to Erupt, consigned by Maine Chance Farms.
Lot 38, a flashy grey mare named In Like Flynn sold for R50 000. By National Assembly out of Cloud Ten, she is foal to Canford Cliffs. She has produced 3 foals and 3 winners to date!
Lot 66 Royal Trip, was knocked down to Bruce Campbell for R50 000. The half-sister to #kznbred Gr1 2nd placed Copper Mountain, also a Vodacom Durban July entry, is in foal to William Longsword and was consigned by Ridgemont Highlands. This is also the female line of Kournikova.
Pretrainer and BSA Inspector Jane Thomas of Far End Pretraining, purchased a mare My Lady Bluff (Indigo Magic) in foal to One World. She is the dam of Hard Days Night, pretrained by Jane Thomas and a Champion Miler and Horse Of The Year in Mauritius. This is the family of Major Bluff.
