KZN Sires Redoute’s Promise, Noble Tune and Linngari all had news to come out of the recent Arqana December Mixed Bloodstock sale held at Deauville, with Noble Tune’s family topping the sale overall and Redoute’s Choice, the sire of Bush Hill’s Redoute’s Promise, providing a session topper with a weanling filly and a number of mares sold in foal to Linngari, including a maiden for €50 000.
Rathmor-bred Romany Prince, a Kahal half-brother to American and South African multiple Gr1 winner Gypsy’s Warning, not only gave his dam more Black Type by winning the Drum Star Handicap Listed but in the process, Ormond Ferraris’ 2500th winner in a career spanning 64 years. Scott Bros’ Gr2 winning son of Miesque’s Approval, Judicial, finished closely in second position.
After crossing the line first in an impressive Barrier Trial run, The Bayou’s first race start at Scottsville saw him get left behind at the gates, and he ran courageously to fly up for third place. Its no surprise therefore that he started as favourite at Greyville over 1400m and flew home comfortably by over two lengths.
