Piemonte-bred son of Crusade, Alfeo, has won the award for the Eastern Cape’s Champion 2YO Colt.

Out of Singapura Cat by Black Minnaloushe, Alfeo was one of four Stakes Winners for sire Crusade last season. He has had three wins and two places from only six starts – including the Dahlia Listed from Madam Speaker and finishing second in the East Cape Nursery Listed.

Alfeo is trained by Alan Greef and owned in partnership with breeder Lee Scribante and his brother. Bought back for R20 000 from the 2017 KZN Yearling Sale, he has earned over R200 000 in stakes, excluding the R40 000 BSA Maiden Juvenile Stakes Bonus he earned when winning his Maiden Juvenile Plate.

Lee and Dino Scribante’s Piemonte Stud earned a strike rate of 41.2% winners to runners for the 2017 / 2018 season and produced two Black Type winners, including Carlita who was Alfeo’s stable companion at the KZN Yearling Sale. In addition to 39 wins for the season, their horses placed 122 times, earning a collective R2,8-million in stakes.

Sire Crusade had a great season with 4 Stakes Winners – Alfeo, Covered In Snow (twice) and Butchie Boy in Zimbabwe all impressed. Crusade earned a 40% winners to runners percentage for the 2017 / 2018 season and average earnings per runner of over R50 500 each and 49 wins for the season.

Crusade is standing his 2018 breeding season at Peter and Jenny Blyth’s Clifton Stud.

Well done to all concerned!
