Nutfield Farm - situated in the beautiful Lidgetton Valley in the KZN Midlands - is the home of Roski Stud - a small family business - owned and managed by Greg Royden-Turner and his daughter Juli (Soss).

Having been associated with breeding and racing for many years through his late father Dim, Greg realized a passion for breeding by acquiring his first seven broodmares in June 2007.

The name "Roski" is twofold in the family - firstly being the name Greg's dad used for him - shortened from "Gregoroski" and secondly, the letters depicting the five members of our own family - Roxy, the Old lady, Soss, Kelly & I.

The farm, in extent 50Ha, is predominantly under kikuyu pastures - with rye grass planted annually to maintain a constant supply of green feed for the horses all year round.

Our horses enjoy the uninhibited freedom of large paddocks, which we believe to be especially conducive to the development of tough youngsters, but are carefully monitored on a daily basis, with stringent innoculation and hoof care practices being upheld.

The stud enjoys a close working relationship with highly qualified veterinarians and an experienced farrier.

Juli, with a natural talent and wonderful affinity with horses, breaks in the youngsters who are being groomed for a racing career under the stud banner, and does the necessary preparatory spelling which ensures these young colts and fillies are up to the real challenge of serious work when they get to the trainers.

There are 21 stables on the property, including a maternity wing, a sick bay and yearling preparation block.

Although still in it's infancy - through careful and scientific matings, a balanced feed programme, well maintained pastures and quality care - Roski Stud is growing each year and is now home to 28 broodmares, who have produced some good, strong, well boned and athletic yearlings for both the National, as well as the KZN Yearling Sales.

This year, we are looking forward to the first crop of foals by our stallion Just As Well - a Group 1 performer - son of AP Indy out of No Matter What, herself a Group 1 winner.

As a young stud, we are constantly striving to improve our knowledge, the quality of our broodmares and their progeny and to maintain a high standard of youngsters who will go on to do the stud proud.
