Goat, the unusually named but talented mare, sadly had to be put down in the early hours of Tuesday morning last week after colic complications.
Initially attracting controversy over her name, which proved to that you cannot judge a book by its title but rather its contents - as her race record reflects 5 wins and 13 places from 31 starts, and earned R738 580 at the track, considering her price of R80 000 from the 2007 Sibaya KZN Yearling Sale, she proved herself a lucky find indeed.
Goat's favourite track was always Clairwood. Her two stakes wins included the Grade 2 Gold Circle Oaks over 2400m and the Listed KZN Breeders over 1600m.
She was bred by Keivan Stud, by Labeeb out Hello Dolly by Caesour. Her half sister by Victory Moon, Another Goat, is already a winner and placed twice.
