DISTRIBUTED ON BEHALF OF MIKE BASS RACING
“Pocket” - the book about Pocket Power - is set to hit the shelves by mid-November. All copies pre-ordered online will be signed by the connections and go into the grand draw to win framed signed silks and an original shoe worn by Pocket Power when winning the 2008 J&B Met. A portion of the books proceedings will also be going towards the National Horse Trust.
We believe the book is unique to South African racing. There are over 230 pages of words in the paperback, as well as 48 pages of colour pictures relating to his life and times. It is the culmination of a year's work by the author and we are confident that it does justice to the great champion's career. You need no reminding what a servant Pocket was to the local industry and the book should appeal to more than the dedicated horse racing fan. The foreword was done by Gary Player.
Books will retail on shelves at R190 or purchased online including delivery for R200.
Pocket can be purchased and paid for online by going to his website www.pocketpower.co.za or at www.mikebassracing.com where pay-gipal and courier options are also available.

He knew that the grey had loomed up on his outside and stuck her nose in front with 30 metres remaining, but the champion had dug deep into a bottomless reservoir of courage. Pocket Power would have seen Dancer’s Daughter appear on the scene before the jockey could. But Fayd’Herbe had felt his tiring mount refuse to be beaten, straining every sinew to get to the line first. Shea, though, was screaming with delight, out of sight of the cameras and crowd." This suddenly confused Fayd’Herbe, made him doubt himself. ‘I thought I had it but when Kevin was so confident I didn’t know ..."
