| |
Both resident sires owned by the Tawny Syndicate - Toreador and Irish Flame - have had Bold Black Type Success in the last week.
Toreador's daughter Roc 'n Rose won the Queen Palm Handicap Listed over 2400m at Scottsville on Sunday under jockey Muzi Yeni.
This is her fifth win from 14 starts, and her first Bold Black Type. A consistent horse trained by Duncan Howells and owned by Mr B P Meth, she has also placed five times. Her wins include distances from 1450m - 2400m.
Toreador stands for a fee of R15 000 this season. He averaged R228 333 for each of his nine yearlings sold at the Nationals this year.
He is the sire of the likes of Gr1 winning Link Man and multiple Group winners Deliver The Power, Jackodore, She's A Stunner and Las Ramblas as well as being the best performed son of Danehill to stand his entire stud career in South Africa.
This season will see the first exciting foals arrive from Equus Champion dual Gr1 winner - Irish Flame, a Horse Of The Year who won in South Africa and England, and placed in the Gr2 Al Rashidiya in Dubai.
His full-sister, Irish Myth [pictured left], has had four wins with three of them on the trot - the last two both Listed races.
After taking home the Winter Oaks Listed at Kenilworth in June, she won the East Coast Paddock Stakes Listed at Fairview on 25 July.
Ridden by Richard Fourie for Champion trainer Justin Snaith, she finished half a length in front of Antonius Pius filly Dinesen and Silvan Spirit (by Silvano).
Bred by The Tawny Syndicate, she is owned by Messrs G Barber, M A Govender, B Kantor & L M Nestadt.
Bush Hill Stud will be introducing their new stallion prospect, Redoute's Promise, at their stallion day on 27th July at their farm in Mooi River.
