Fastnet Rock Colt Tops Karaka Sale
| |
Fastnet Rock, sire of the exciting young sire Curved Ball, is enjoying a tremendous season once again. Fresh off winning his first sires premiership, the son of Danehill is again in the headlines with a string of feature race winners, including the G1 winners Nechita and Sea Siren.
A son of the great sire topped the recent Karaka NZB Ready to Run Sale, where the colt fetched $480,000. This is the second highest price ever paid for a horse at New Zealand RTR Sale – and a further boost for Fastnet Rock.
Two of the top five lots on offer were sons of Fastnet Rock, with another colt fetching $300,000.
Fastnet Rock was also the leading sire on the sale by average, with five of his seven lots on offer averaging $268,000.
Progeny of Fastnet Rock have produced an incredible eight Gr 1 wins this year, eight Gr 2, seven Gr 3 and seven Listed wins from Australia, New Zealand and Hong Kong.
Curved Ball is the only son of this sensational sire currently at stud in South Africa. A top-class performer, the winner of the G2 Dingaans Stakes has proven very popular with breeders in his first season – and an exciting stud career awaits him!
Curved Ball has covered his first book of mares at Bush Hill Stud this season.
