Son Of Galileo To Stand At Yellow Star Stud For 2014
| |
Very exciting news for KZN emerged again this week as Yellow Star Stud announced that they have acquired the first son of the international champion sire Galileo to stand at stud in South Africa - the handsome grey three-quarter brother to the famous Frankel, named The Assayer.
Imported in uetero and born in the Cape to Danehill mare Crystal Charm, The Assayer began his training career with Charles Laird and later relocated to Mike De Kock, racing 10 times to win once (by almost four lengths) and place twice in two Gr1's - the Golden Horseshoe and Premier's Championship, placing nine times in total. Unfortunately an injury prevented The Assayer fulfilling a promising race career.
The Assayer's second dam is Chamonis - herself by Affirmed out of a Tim Tam mare. A dam-line bursting with Gr1 winners, it includes the likes of half-siblings Timely Writer (4 x Gr1 wins) and dual Gr1 winner Timely Assertion - both found under the second dam Timely Tammy. Amongst many others, it includes Wild Wolverine, champion filly Indian Skimmer, Dark Mirage, Missy's Mirage, sires Bluebird and Java Gold and local Gr1 Mercury Sprint winner All Will Be Well.
The Assayer joins another promising sire at Yellow Star - Kildonan - as well as Tropical Empire, Spectrum, Damage Is Done and Lion Tamer.
Congratulations to Koos and Lorraine De Klerk on an exciting stallion prospect indeed!
