International Feat For Mogok(USA)
| |
Tba.co.za reports that "the Scott Bros' resident sire Mogok has pulled off the impressive achievement of having sons nominated for both the 2013 Singapore Airlines International Cup and KrisFlyer International Sprint.
"Meteor Mike (Mogok) is one of 72 horses nominated for the $1 000 000 Kris Flyer, with The Apache one of 91 entered for the $3 000 000 Cup.
Both Meteor Mike and The Apache are BSA graduates! The pair were also both bred by Scott Bros – a tremendous feat for the KZN breeders.
Their sire, Mogok, has 12 lots on the 2013 Emperors Palace National Yearling Sale."
Meteor Mike is a R210 000 graduate of the 2008 Emperors Palace National Two Year Old sale, and The Apache an R80 000 Emperors Palace National Yearling Sale graduate. The Apache set the tracks on fire in South Africa and is a dual Gr 1 winner, and continues to do so under champion trainer Mike De Kock - having already taken home a Gr 2 and placing a close second recently in a Gr 1 in Dubai - in a matter of weeks.
This is the not the first taste of International success for the half-brother to Machiavellian - Mogok. His daughter Gypsy's Warning (bred by Rathmor Stud), sold to the breeders of Mogok in 2011 for $1.05 million, won the Grade 1 Matriarch Stakes and Grade 3 Eatontown Stakes in the USA.
Amongst the 12 lots entered for the Emperors Palace National Yearling Sale, three bred and consigned by Scott Bros will attract attention. The Apache has a full-sister on the upcoming National Sale as Lot 286, Bold Pocahontas.
Another is a half-brother to Vodacom Durban July winner Hunting Tower, named The Lonsdale. He is a full-brother to filly Cup Of Rubies, who has won twice and placed twice from just six starts, and three different courses in KZN.
Yet another is Lot 14 named The Beat, a full-brother to Gr 2 Emerald Cup winner, Meadow Magic - winner of last years richest race on sand in Africa.
Mogok has produced yet another outstanding crop of foals last season, including a big, beautiful and very eye-catching filly from the speedy Gr 2 winning mare Glenrossal (by Anytime) from Peter and Jenny Blyth's Clifton Stud.
Mogok's other Group winners include Gr 1 Champions Cup winner Orbison and Gr 3 winner Corpes Da Elite.
Mogok is the most successful son of Storm Cat standing in South Africa today, and looks to be making a name for himself as an International Sire. He stands for a fee of just R20 000 (R5 000 nomination and R15 000 Live Foal).
