Backworth-Bred Variometer Princess Of The Bauhinia Handicap

Speedy three-year-old chestnut Backworth-bred filly, Variometer, by Var out of Lady Electric(AUS) by Hennessy(USA), took a perfectly timed three-quarter length victory, carrying top weight, in the Bauhinia Handicap (Listed) over 1000m on Turffontein’s old course last night. ‘Precision’ jockey, Piere Strydom, presented the Louis Goosen-trained daughter of Var 200m out before she charged away in the final 100m from Jolly Poppins, Three Nations, Extra Zero and Princess Rue.
Variometer is a graduate from the Backworth draft of the 2010 KZN Yearling Sale and this win takes her career record to 4 wins and 3 place from 10 starts.
