Exciting Future For Visionaire
| |
Visionaire's statistics: 11 runners - six winners with 11 wins between them - one of those already a Listed winner - and not a single runner yet unplaced. If that doesn't make anyone in the horseracing industry sit up and take notice - nothing will - his first yearlings to hit the Nationals in April should demand attention from buyers. Owned by Team Valor and Summerhill Stud in a partnership, Visionaire is by Grand Slam out of Scarlet Tango by French Deputy.
As his first foals were born in 2012, our breeders across KZN reported that the Visionaire's were very much in the form of their sire - big with plenty of substance and bone and powerful hindquarters.
From his first crop to race in the United States (which apparently wasn't a big crop as his breeding season was cut short after a decision to send him to South Africa) Visionaire has already produced a three-time winner at just two years of age - a filly who is very much in the image of her sire [pictured left] - named Bacopa Breeze who brought home the Laurel Smart Halo Stakes Listed.
Another of his progeny to earn Black Type is a colt named Outlook [pictured right] - who placed second in the Santa Rosa Cavonnier Juvenile Stakes Listed, and fourth again in the Pleasanton Everett Nevin Stakes Listed.
A young strapping chestnut stallion standing at the National Champion breeders' Summerhill Stud, who oozes power and athleticsm, stands almost 16.2h and commanded a fee of R25 000 +vat for the 2013 breeding season.
It appears from what his first outstanding crop have produced in America, this will be money very well invested.
A five-time winner over distances of 1300 - 1700m, he won the Gr 1 King's Bishop Stakes in goosebump fashion - coming from last and going onto win impressively, leaving the field in his dust. Rated by Timeform at 126, he also won the Gr 3 Gotham and placed in two subsequent Gr 3's - the Risen Star and Northern Dancer Stakes.
Mares that have paid Visionaire a visit over the past couple of breeding seasons with progeny we can really look forward to - include Dignify (Distinguished), Coastal Waltz (No Worries), Dream Starling (Cookie Monster), Nadira (Showmetheway), Particular Passion (Love Struck), Roman Dream (Onehundredacrewood), Haifaa (Extra Zero) and Vanish (Disappear).
We look forward to seeing his first crop of South African yearlings at the Emperors Palace National Yearling Sales in April 2014!
