Kildonan's Kenilworth Double Yellow Star's resident sire Kildonan had a double at Kenilworth on Saturday in the first and fourth race, with Saint Donan winning over 1200m and Revved Up over 2000m. Saint Donan won the aptly named Wilgebosdrift Stud Maiden Plate comfortably by over a length under Christopher Puller. Charlie Strong, by Ravishing, finished second whilst Silvano colt Silver Snaffles finished third. Saint Donan has been looking for the winners enclosure, achieving a consistent race record - placing six times from eight starts, and winning once. Out of Elliodor mare Still Mineral, Saint Donan is owned by Mr J Henderson and Mrs H Maeder, bred by Mr S J Le Roux & Miss C Geddes. Trained by A G Maeder, all of Saint Donan's runs have been over 1200m - 1400m - including the Gr3 Cape Classic where he finished behind Act Of War. The next to follow was Revved Up, winning by over one and a half lengths under Richard Fourie. Judpot gelding Storm Faerie finished second, with Doowaley gelding Exclusive Knight finishing third over the 2000m. Bred by Wilgebosdrift Farm, Revved Up is out of Argentine mare Intensificada, by Roy. Part-owned by trainer Mr G W Ennion, along with Mr T and Mrs S Delport, Revved Up has been enjoying further after placing twice and winning from his last five starts after a step up in distance at Kenilworth. He previously placed third over 2500m. The last week of February saw Kildonan have another two places at Greyville - with Fire The Rocket and Buster Brown. Kildonan is represented by eight yearlings at the upcoming TBA National Yearling Sale at the end of April, five of which comprise the total of Yellow Star Stud's National Sales draft. Amongst Yellow Star's draft is Lot 55, a bay filly named Cathayness is out of Bahira (by Parade Leader), the dam a half-sister to Singapore Gr1 winner and placed Flax. This is also the family of Blossoming Fields and Wire Bound. The other to take note of is Lot 412, the beautifully named King Of Scots. Out of National Emblem mare Star Tower, this colt is a half-brother to two winners - the dam is a half-sister to Gr1 winning Shah's Star. This is also the immediate family of Fearless and Festive Season. Kildonan sold his only yearling on offer last year at the Nationals for R290 000, and there is no doubt that buyers will be looking at them with keen interest again this year. The sire of Gr2 winning Rosier, voted the Cape's top Juvenile filly of the season for trainer Glen Kotzen last year, record-setting Kildonan stood for a fee of R10 000 last season at Yellow Star Stud.
