Scott Bros International Racing News For KZN: Miesque's Approval and Crusade
| |
Scott Bros have two of their stallions highlighted as Miesque's Approval's half-brother by Northern Afleet, a 2012 grey gelding named World Approval placed third at Churchill Downs in the Gr2 American Turf Stakes.
Finishing less then two lengths off the winner in good going on the turf, the race run over 8.5 furlongs (previously won by Rathmor Stud's Noble Tune), saw Kitten's Joy colt Divisidero win from a Tapit colt A Lot.
World Approval has taken home the Sophomore Turf Stakes (Restricted) earlier in 2015.
Another grey half-sibling to Miesque's Approval (pictured right) that constantly notches up Bold Black Type is Za Approval, by Ghostzapper.
Za Approval has won three Gr3's and placed in three Gr1's including the Breeders Cup Mile. In 2015 he placed second in the Gr2 Arcadia Handicap.
As of the 3 May according to the stats of Sporting Post, Miesque's Approval continues to lead the national log as sire of horses on artificial surfaces (Polytrack), from Jet Master, Western Winter and Var.
Miesque's Approval lies 12th on the national Leading Sires log by Stakes earned.
His son J's Outsider recently took home the Gr2 Gold Bowl over 3200m at Turffontein, whilst Gr2 winning Judicial who also placed second in the Gr1 Summer Cup, has been entered into the Vodacom Durban July.
Crusade's Henrythenavigator half-brother recently finished second over 1400m in the UK, taking his record to one win and three places from six starts.
The bay gelding named Sir Henry Raeburn owned by Mr RA Green and trained by Paul Cole is a full brother to Cristoforo Columbo.
Cristoforo Columbo placed fifth in the Gr1 English 2000 Guineas behind Dawn Approach, a horse he had finished third (by a length) off earlier in his career in the Gr2 Coventry Stakes.
The eldest son of Henrythenavigator also placed in the Gr1 Middle Park, the race that Crusade won, as well as the Gr2 Railway Stakes.
Crusade's dam has produced a filly by Galileo and is back in foal to the great son of Sadler's Wells for the current season.
Crusade's second foal crop is due this year.
Crusade stands for a fee of R20 000.
