As the Vodacom Durban July day has unfolded, three graduates of the Suncoast KZN Yearling Sale have emerged once more, with previous KZN Yearling Sale Million winner and Gr1 Thekweni Stakes winner Same Jurisdiction taking home the Gr1 Garden Province Stakes this evening. The other is Tiger Territory, the first yearling to sell for over a R1million at the Suncoast KZN Yearling Sale, a son of Trippi sold in 2011 for R1,1million won the 10th race today on the Vodacom Durban July card, whilst Alesh Naidoo's and Mr Da Costa's A.P. Answer juvenile gelding galloped home to grab the KZN Yearling Sale Million by a neck from Natal and Chosen Dash.
The Clifton Stud-bred has now had two wins and two places from just four starts, an R80 000 graduate of the 2014 Suncoast KZN Yearling Sale.
Yearlings registered with the KZN Breeders Premium Scheme will once again have an added advantage in the 2016 KZN Yearling Sale Million to be run on Vodacom Durban July Day, with the KZN Breeders offering the winning KZN-bred an additional stake of R200 000. This will make the 2016 KZN Yearling Sale Million the richest two year old race in South Africa.
Kevin Woolward of the TBA commented on the results of the Suncoast KZN Yearling Sale: "It was a tough sale, aggregate was up 6.7% but the average was down by 2.7%. The median remained the same, with the highest price being half the top price of last year's sale. We had the same number of horses catalogued but we sold 19 more at this sale. There were 25 not solds as opposed to 5 last year, the vendor buy backs numbered 17 as opposed to 50 at the sale last year. The average for today was R99 364, a big drop for 112 horses consigned today."
"The top buyers were Adriaan Van Vuuren (Misty Meadows), Howells Racing, Nick Jonsson, Dennis Drier and Paul Peter.
A big thank you to Suncoast, our breeders, buyers and underbidders for their support and helping us to have a successful sale."
Well done to all concerned and looking forward to watching the graduates of the 2015 Suncoast KZN Yearling Sale excel on the tracks once more next season!
