First South African Winner For Daring Bid(USA)
| |
The only son of Unbridled standing at stud in South Africa, Daring Bid(USA) got his first winner at the Vaal on Saturday with All The Bids, bred by Favour Stud, winning by almost four lengths over 1000m from Law Enforcer and Thunder Run.
Trained by Corne Spies and ridden by Fanie Chambers, the two year old colt has been retained by breeders Favour Stud. He is out of mare All The Nines by Mistral Dancer. From just four starts, the colt has placed twice previously.
Imported by the late Neil Sykes of Orangewood Stud, Daring Bid(USA) has been relocated to stand at Middlefield Stud, the home of Byword, Antigua Island, Rocky Street and Spanish Harlem.
A big individual standing at 16.2 hands, Daring Bid is out of Whiffling by Wavering Monarch - in turn out of a Bold Ruler/Tim Tam mare. The handsome bay stallion with chiselled features is impressive and athletic - looking every bit the $US 1.4 million yearling he sold for. Achieving four wins in the USA over 1600-2200m on turf and dirt, Daring Bid also placed 12 times in the process.
He is a half-brother to Prairie Bayou, winner of the Gr 1 Preakness Stakes and second in the Kentucky Derby, as well as eight-time winner Flitch - another multiple group winner.
His sire Unbridled was Champion 3 year old in the USA and has sired numerous Gr 1 winners as well as going onto to be a sire-of-sires including Unbridled's Song.
Daring Bid began his stud career in the USA before making the trip to South Africa. His American crop includes seven-time winner in 2013 - a filly named Anna Jane's Crane (Future Storm, Fire Dancer).
Congratulations to the winning connections involved.
