A.P. Answer's Foals From Clifton Stud

Clifton Stud have some absolutely stunning foals, soon to be weanlings from first season sire A.P. Answer.
Kali Mist by Rakeen - Fashing by Dancin Champ(USA) - had a beautiful bay filly out of A.P. Answer. This filly is well-grown and has a lot of presence, with plenty of paddock value behind her looks and pedigree. Kali Mist has been sent to Trippi for her next covering. Kali Mist placed from 4 starts and is the dam of 4 runners and 4 winners to date - including Maritime Mist who is a 5-time winner.
Kali Mist has a yearling by National Emblem going to the National Yearling Sales, a colt named Kali's Insignia.
Fashing - the dam of Kali Mist was voted Equus Champion Broodmare in 2003. She won 3 races and placed 7 times. She is an own-sister to Fast Champ. She has foaled 8 winners to date that include Mast Abeam by Coastal - an 8-time winner several Listed Races and placing in a Grade 2 Handicap. Her other progeny include Donya - a 7-time winner including two Grade 3 wins and the dam of 3 winners herself including Drift Ice who has had 3 wins in Dubai.
Her best son however has been Yard-Arm by Western Winter. He was voted Equus Horse of the Year in 2003, Equus Champion Older Middle Distance Male in 2003 and achieved 10 wins including being a winner in Dubai and earning stakes of R3,701,250 over distances of 1200 - 2450m. His wins include the SA Derby Grade 1, J & B Met, Grade 1, Gold Challenge Grade 1, The Skeaping Champion Stakes Trophy Grade 1, Sun International Queen's Plate (WFA) Grade 1, Elevation Stakes Grade 2, Clairwood Cup Trial Grade 3, Al Fahidi Fort Grade3 and places in the Grade 1 Summer Cup and Grade 1 Durban July. He was subsequently exported to USA.
Ridge Shiraz by West Man out of Vino Rosa by Foveros - has foaled (on the 17 October) a beautiful - and very big - chestnut filly by A.P. Answer. Ridge Shiraz is a 4-time winner of R169,960 from a versatile distance of 1400 - 2450m and she placed 11 times. She is the dam of an unraced Black Minnaloushe colt and a yearling colt by Mogok, named Red Red Ruby going to the Emperor's Palace National Yearling Sale in April.
Her dam, Vino Rosa won R383,200 at the track with a tally of 8 wins.
These included the Newmarket Turf Club Stakes Grade 2, Viljoensdrif Handicap (Listed) and she placed 13 times, including the Telemedia 3-Y-O Sprint Grade 3.
This family includes Persian Summer, Grade 3 winner Summer Guest, Grade
3 Matchem Stakes winner Majestic Sun, KZN Gold-Vase winner Grade 2 Ship's Gossip, sire Majestic Crown - 11 time winner including multiple Graded wins in the Holiday Inns Grade 1, Natal Derby Grade 2, Summerveld Free Handicap Grade 3 and the Michaelmas Handicap (L), including placing fourth in the Rothmans July Grade 1, and ARCSA Champion 2 year old (in
1989 and 1990) Senor Santa, and Flight Alert.
Dolphin Beach, by Special Preview - Belmont Blue(GB) by Kashmir(IRE), has a stunning chestnut colt by A.P. Answer. Dolphin Beach is herself a two-time winner of R110 000 and her wins include the Listed Ruffian Stakes. She also placed twice in her career. She is the dam of two winners including a Bold-Black type winner by West Man, a gelding named East Beach. He had three wins in Zimbabwe which included the Grade 3 Chairman's Champion Juvenile Stakes, and he placed twice. Dolphin Beach has a beautiful yearling colt by Atso going to this year's National Sale, named Risky Rosco.
The second dam, Belmont Blue is a half-sister to ten-time Listed winner by Complete Warrior, Winning Purple. Belmont Blue produced three winners and the third dam Lavendar Garden produced five winners.
The fourth dam, Lavender Bag, produced 6 runners and 6 winners and she has some impressive descendants. Of her own progeny, she had four-time winner Danseuse Classique, whose victories included the Gr 2 Natal Oaks, as well as being Stakes placed multiple times - including the Gr 1 Paddock Stakes and the Natal Newspapers Gold Cup Gr 1.
Her descendants include Aslan - Equus Champion Stayer in 2011, a five time-winner of over R2,2 million in stakes. His wins include the Gr 1 Summer Cup and Gr 1 Canon Gold Cup over 3200m. There is also Listed winner Gombera Boy and the dam-line goes on to include sire Plum Duff, Bold Vixen who ran a second in the Gr 1 Garden Province Stakes, and the very good filly Angelina, winner of Cape Breeders' Cup Paddock Stakes Gr.1, the SA Fillies Classic Gr.2 and the Gold Bracelet Gr.3. It is impossible to name every winner, but other stand outs include nine-time Listed winner Heartwood and the Gr 2 winning dam of six winners, Epaulette.
Snow Goose (Northern Guest - Tales Of Winter By Averof) is a winner herself and has a dark bay foal by A.P. Answer. She is the dam of two winners, one being Epic Flight by Kahal who also placed four times, and other being a Muhtafal filly, Lets Fly Away, who also placed seven times.
Her second dam Tales Of Winter is a Stakes Placed mare, having three wins and placing twice including a third Gosforth Park Fillies & Mares Stakes Gr.3, from only 8 starts. She is a half-sister to The Eiger and The Monk. To date she has produced 5 runners and 5 winners including the likes of Earlswood who had six wins and placed 9 times, earning over R300 000.
The mare's third dam is Winter Lass, a 9 time winner including the Helios Fillies Stakes Gr.3, Summer Champion Stakes Gr.3. Winter Lass produced The Eiger, a six time winner who also placed in the Gr 3 Dingaans, and Gr 1 winning The Monk whose victories include the SA Derby and IGN Gold Bowl.
Countess Kinsky, a beautifully bred mare by Kahal out of Rose North by Northern Guest/Mr Prospector/Northern Dancer female line, had two wins and a place from just seven starts. She is the dam of a beautifully put-together bay filly by A.P. Answer.
The second dam, Rose North is the dam of five winners including three-time winning full-brother to Countess Kinsky, Rose Window, who placed second in the Tony Ruffel Gr 3. Third dam Rose Linnet, an American import, produced five winners a mare who won three times, Beautiful Warrior.
The fourth dam Rose Red is where things begin hotting up. She is the grand-dam of two Sires, Archway(IRE), a Grade 3 winner and muliple Stakes placed, and Dr Devious(IRE) whose six wins include the Irish Champion Stakes Gr 1, Kerry Group Champ Stakes Gr 1, Three Chimneys Dewhurst Stakes Gr 1, and the Lanson Champagne Vintage Stakes Gr.3. This dam-line also include mulitple Bold-Black Type winners such as Critique, a joint Champion 2-y-o in France in 1980, Singletta, a joint Champion 3-y-o filly in Germany in 1986 and Champion older miler in Europe in 1990 Markofdistinction, to name but a few!
